On Friday, May 23, 2025, and Friday, June 13, 2025, a “Deep Learning Training and Workshop” was held at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University, and Universitas Mahasaraswati, Denpasar, Bali. This activity aimed to enhance the professional capacity and competence of English teachers across Bali in understanding and applying the Deep Learning approach in their teaching practices. The program targeted English teachers from junior high schools (SMP), senior high schools/vocational schools (SMA/SMK) and higher education throughout Bali who are interested in improving their skills in implementing Deep Learning methods. The initiative hopes to foster an adaptive educational ecosystem that responds to evolving teaching approaches and continuously improves the quality of English education.

The workshop yielded several significant outcomes aimed at enhancing educational quality. Participants deepened their understanding of Deep Learning concepts and strategies, empowering them to design and implement more effective teaching methods. This improvement in teacher competence was reflected in the classroom, where teachers began applying approaches that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and contextual learning. Furthermore, schools started integrating Deep Learning as a fundamental part of their strategies for continuous quality improvement, contributing to the development of an adaptive learning ecosystem.

In terms of tangible outputs, the workshop generated valuable resources and collaborative opportunities. Each participant created a follow-up action plan to apply Deep Learning principles in their respective schools. Additionally, comprehensive teaching practice portfolios were developed, containing best practices, lesson plans, teaching materials, and reflective notes. The event also facilitated the formation of forums for sharing best practices, encouraging ongoing professional development among educators. Finally, evaluation reports were compiled, providing insights into the program’s effectiveness along with recommendations for future enhancement.

The event was overseen by a team of experts from TEFLIN Bali Chater: Prof. Dr. Ni Luh Nyoman Seri Malini (Udayana University), Made Hery Santosa, Ph.D (Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha), Ketut Santi Indriani, M.Hum (Udayana University), and Dr.Anak Agung Putri Maharani, M.Pd (Universitas Mahasaraswati).

The training significantly enhanced pedagogical competence among English teachers and fostered a collaborative, innovative learning culture. It encouraged students to develop critical, creative, and reflective thinking skills. To sustain and expand the program’s impact, continuous support from schools and education authorities is essential, alongside follow-up mentoring and training. Replication of the program in other regions and subjects, as well as ongoing monitoring and evaluation, is highly recommended.
