Anang, M.Pd., an English teacher at SMAN 3 Kota Sukabumi and Chair of the Sukabumi City English Teachers’ Association (MGMP), participated in the 2026 Global English Education China Assembly and Belt and Road Forum for Language and Culture Collaboration, held at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), Beijing, China, from 23 to 26 July 2026, with the support and facilitation of TEFLIN.
The international forum brought together English educators and practitioners from different countries and provided a valuable space for professional learning, knowledge exchange, and international networking. For Anang, the event offered an opportunity to gain global perspectives and explore practices that could be adapted to the Indonesian educational context, particularly in Sukabumi.
One of the highlights was his participation in a presentation and panel session with teachers and educators from Russia, Thailand, China, and Mongolia, including Elena Babina, Shane Smithiwin, Huang Yujia, and Uyanga Enkhtaivan, under the supervision of Professor Ge Bingfang from Zhejiang Province, China. The session provided a platform for exchanging perspectives on teaching practices, cultural contexts, and the challenges facing educators across different education systems.
Beyond academic and pedagogical insights, the event highlighted the broader role of English education in fostering intercultural communication, appreciation of diversity, character development, and readiness for technological change, including the growing impact of artificial intelligence on education.
The experience was subsequently shared through dissemination activities at SMAN 3 Kota Sukabumi on 28 July 2026 and with English teachers within KCD Region V of the West Java Provincial Education Office through the Sukabumi City MGMP. These activities extended the benefits of the international experience beyond individual professional development and contributed to knowledge sharing within the wider teaching community.
