TEFLIN West Java–Banten Chapter conducted a two-city Pengembangan Kompetensi Guru Bahasa Inggris (PKGBI) program in Serang and Bandung in August 2026. The Serang workshop was held at Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa (UNTIRTA), while the Bandung workshop took place at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI).

The program was designed to strengthen English teachers’ understanding of Indonesia’s Academic Competency Test (TKA), with particular attention to reading comprehension and assessment design. Participants explored textual, inferential, and evaluative reading comprehension, as well as principles for developing multiple-choice items aligned with the competencies assessed in TKA.

Both workshops combined conceptual input with practical item-development activities. In the Banten program, participants continued the process through item submission, feedback, revision, and final collection. In Bandung, teachers worked with facilitators from UPI to connect reading pedagogy with the development of assessment items.

The program reflects TEFLIN’s continuing commitment to teacher professional development and to collaboration among professional associations, universities, MGMPs, schools, and English teachers. By bringing the program to two locations, TEFLIN West Java–Banten expanded access to professional learning while creating opportunities for teachers to exchange practices and strengthen assessment literacy.
