The Research and Development Division of TEFLIN is pleased to announce an upcoming online workshop on research methodology, entitled “GenAI-Assisted Academic Writing: How to Use AI Without Outsourcing Your Scholarship”.
The workshop will feature Dr. Ju Seong Lee from The Education University of Hong Kong as the resource person. It will examine how generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) can be used strategically and responsibly in academic writing and research while maintaining scholarly ownership and research integrity.
The session will explore several key aspects of GenAI-assisted scholarship, including the AI Writing Ladder, the changing publishing environment, the distinction between writing and research, and the use of AI in data analysis and coding. Through these topics, participants will be invited to consider not only what AI can do, but also where human judgement and scholarly responsibility remain essential.
The workshop is intended for lecturers, researchers, postgraduate students, and EFL scholars interested in understanding the opportunities and challenges presented by GenAI in academic work.
The workshop will be held online on Saturday, 22 August 2026, from 09:00 to 12:00. Participation is free, and participants will receive an e-certificate. As seats are limited, prospective participants are encouraged to register in advance through the registration link provided by TEFLIN.
The workshop is organized by the Research and Development Division of TEFLIN as part of its ongoing efforts to support research development and responsible engagement with emerging technologies in the field of English language education.
Through this workshop, TEFLIN seeks to foster informed discussion about how scholars can make productive use of GenAI without compromising the human intellectual contribution at the heart of academic scholarship.
