The TEFLIN NTT Chapter successfully held a Pengembangan Kompetensi Guru Bahasa Inggris (PKGBI) program on June 20, 2026 at Alfa Building, 2nd Floor, Artha Wacana Christian University, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. The event brought together 47 English teachers from Junior and Senior High Schools in Kupang City and Kupang Regency to strengthen their competencies in response to the recent implementation of Tes Kemampuan Akademik (TKA).
This professional development program aimed to enhance teachers’ reading competence, deepen understanding of TKA reading demands and formats, and equip teachers with the skills to design effective and valid reading test items.
Led by Dr. Peggy M. Jonathans, S. Pd., MA (TESOL); Tiarma Marpaung, S.Pd., M.Pd.; and Zuvyati A. Tonaen, S.S., M.Pd. from Board Members of TEFLIN NTT Chapter and lecturers of English Education Study Program, Artha Wacana Christian University, the sessions covered key topics such as TKA: Selayang Pandang, Pengembangan Butir Soal Pilihan Ganda, Strategi Pembelajaran Keterampilan Membaca: Pemahaman Tekstual, Strategi Pembelajaran Keterampilan Membaca: Pemahaman Inferensial, Strategi Pembelajaran Keterampilan Membaca: Pemahaman Evaluatif, Pelatihan Pengembangan Butir Soal. Participants engaged in discussion and sharing insights from their own teaching context, interactive workshops, and collaborative tasks of TKA test item development.
By the end of the program, participants reported their collaborative work on TKA test item development and increased confidence in aligning their teaching and assessment practices with TKA requirements, as well as gaining practical strategies to support students’ reading development.
