The TEFLIN Division’s Non-Formal Education section recently hosted a successful teacher training and workshop on deep learning in English language teaching, specifically focusing on listening skills. Held on July 5, 2025, at ILP Pancoran, the event gathered 38 English teachers from ILP, LB LIA, LBI FIB UI, Curiokids Indonesia, and other prominent language institutions.

This professional development program aimed to:
• Review and reflect on deep learning principles in education.
• Participate in a demo lesson and discuss potential improvements.
• Develop a listening lesson that integrates Deep Learning principles for peer teaching.

Led by Ms. Angelia Basuningtyas from Curiokids Indonesia, the session covered essential topics such as experiential learning, deep learning principles and “recipes,” and a listening segment on the energy crisis. Participants actively engaged in sharing their teaching experiences, collaborating on group tasks, developing lesson plans, and participating in lively discussions.

By the end of the training, participants reported a significant increase in their awareness of deep learning strategies. They also gained valuable insights into classroom activities that effectively encourage deep learning principles, particularly through the demo lesson and subsequent discussions.
