Monday, 16 December, Udayana University’s Faculty of Humanities collaborated with TEFLIN Bali Chapter conducted a workshop entitled “Vocabulary Technique and Grammar Teaching as Language Teaching.” With a broad audience that included high school teachers representing Ikatan Guru Indonesia (Bali branch), academics and lectures from Faculty of Humanities Udayana University, University of Mahasaraswati, and Politeknik Pariwisata Bali, Postgraduate Students of Linguistics Study Program of Udayana University, and English Literature Bachelor Student of Udayana University, the workshop offered a forum for exchanging creative approaches to teaching languages.

The Regional English Language Office (RELO) initiated this workshop as a dedication to enhancing English language training and workshop across the region.
The workshop was formally inaugurated by Prof. Dr. I Wayan Mulyawan, S.S., M.Hum., representing the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities. As the head coordinator for the Bachelor of English Literature program, Prof. Mulyawan emphasized the importance of effective language teaching methodologies in enhancing the educational experience for both teachers and students.

This course of study was led by John Busch, an English Language Fellow who is presently employed in Dili, Timor Leste, and highlighted his vast expertise teaching English in non-English speaking nations like South Korea and Japan. The program was divided into three main parts. The first part involved participants learning different vocabulary teaching strategies that focused on fun and interactive ways to increase student involvement, methods for grammar teaching, and addressing issues that teachers frequently encounter in this field.

Overall, the workshop not only provided valuable insights into vocabulary and grammar teaching but also strengthened professional networks among educators across Bali, paving the way for future collaborations aimed at enhancing English language education in Indonesia.
