TEFLIN for Kalimantan Timur Chapter, collaborating with Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur (PBI-UMKT), have successfully conducted a training on integrating digital applications in English language learning. The workshop, which lasted for 3 days from 15-17 December 2023, was attended by invited English teachers from Samarinda in a hybrid class setting. The event was officially opened by the coordinator of TEFLIN for Kalimantan Timur Chapter, Sudarman, M.Ed.. During his speech, he reminded English teachers to keep updating their knowledge and teaching competencies in order to help students improve their English proficiency by integrating digital platforms in their class.

The first day of the workshop was centered in the Microteaching Laboratory managed by PBI-UMKT, which is regarded as one of the most sophisticated microteaching lab in Kalimantan Timur. The organizing committee presented Abdul Halim, Ph.D. and Dr. Dzul Rachman as the main instructors of the event in the first day. The former delivered materials related to the use of digital applications to assist writing and reading instruction for both online and offline classroom settings, while the latter discussed the use of digital applications for listening and speaking instructions. Although the instructors’ presentations were conducted offline, participants could still watch the recordings that later would be uploaded in TEFLIN Kalimantan Timur YouTube channel. In the second and last day, the training was conducted online since participants were required to work on their own to design their own teaching program by integrating digital applications in the teaching of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
