On Saturday, December 9th, 2023, the Cooperation Division of TEFLIN held a webinar entitled Unlocking Doors to Scopus: Your Ultimate Guide to Successful Article Submission. As the first webinar leading up to the 70th TEFLIN International Conference and the 17th CONAPLIN 2024, it was attended by over 200 researchers, lecturers, academics, students, and the public.

The webinar featured three renowned speakers: Prof. Dr. Yazid Basthomi, M.A., an Editor of TEFLIN Journal, Prof. Dr. Yunisrina Qismullah Yusuf, M.Ling., the Editor-in-Chief of SIELE Journal, and Dr. Mahardhika Zifana, M.Hum., the Director of Operations of IJAL Journal. The webinar was opened by the Cooperation Division of TEFLIN coordinator Ibu Ika Lestari Damayanti, M.A., Ph.D., delivering the opening remark. TEFLIN President, Prof. Utami Widiati, M.A., Ph.D., officially opened the webinar emphasizing the importance of understanding the process of manuscript submission in Scopus-indexed journals, especially the ones affiliated with TEFLIN.

Each presenter delivered eye-opening materials to the field of manuscript submission in Scopus-indexed journals. Prof. Yunisrina Qismullah Yusuf discussed the editor’s point of view, emphasizing what makes a manuscript stand out and the crucial requirements for publishing in Scopus-indexed journals. She also provided a full overview of the SIELE Journal submission process. Prof. Yazid Basthomi underlined the need for compelling research arguments and filling knowledge gaps. He described how convincing arguments add to the body of academic literature and improve the prospects of publication in reputable publications.

Dr. Mahardhika Zifana shed light on the intricate submission process at IJAL Journal, outlining the essential criteria for acceptance, ethical considerations to uphold, and common pitfalls to avoid. His insights provided valuable guidance to aspiring authors navigating the publication landscape.

The webinar was a resounding success, empowering researchers and academics with the knowledge and confidence to navigate the path to successful publication in Scopus-indexed journals. Aside from the immediate benefits, the webinar acted as a precursor to the approaching 70th TEFLIN International Conference and 17th CONAPLIN in Bandung, West Java, in 2024. This event series seeks to provide scholars with the most recent trends, best practices, and networking opportunities in the field of English language teaching and learning.
