TEFLIN Kalimantan Barat Chapter held an online event called the 1st International Conference on English Language Teaching Research and Practices on June 1st and 2nd, 2022. The conference took “Pedagogic Creativity & Innovation in Society 5.0” as its theme for a reason that the internet dominantly influences the current educational context.
The conference was officially opened by the President of TEFLIN, Professor Utami Widiati who appreciated Kalimantan Barat Chapter in organizing the conference. She also welcomed all speakers and participants to the conference. She hoped that English teachers in Indonesia would organize more events for professional development purposes, such as conferences and seminars to develop the teachers’ competences. Besides, she also expected that TEFLIN Kalimantan Barat chapter could invite more teachers to develop professional activities and involve them in international events.
Invited speakers from Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Germany, South Korea, and Indonesia voluntarily shared their research and experiences as keynote, plenary, and featured speakers. In addition, parallel speakers and participants took parts from their hometowns in China, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia. There were 2 keynote, 5 plenary, 3 featured speakers, and 39 parallel presentations. The conference was attended by 143 active participants and resulted in 24 accepted manuscripts to be published as the proceedings of the conference.
This first international conference was sponsored by Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Universitas Tanjungpura, Universitas Muhammadiyah Pontianak, Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Pontianak, Institut Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (IKIP) PGRI Pontianak, and Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama (UNU) Kalimantan Barat.
